Top Five Fall Cocktails To Try In Adams Morgan
We all know fall brings cooler temperatures and beautiful foliage, but what we particularly love is the return of fall flavors. Along with pumpkin spice of course, we couldn’t help but notice that our favorite bars and restaurants in Adams Morgan have dotted their cocktail menus with notes of maple, cider, brown sugar and dark spirits to warm you up from the inside out. Here are the top five fall cocktails to try to get in the autumn spirit.
‘Pearis is Burning from Mintwood Place
Most people think of apples as the star fruit of the fall season, but pears are getting a chance to shine at Mintwood Place. One of their newest fall cocktails is the ‘Pearis is Burning,’ made with rye, pear branding, pear liqueur and pineapple. We bet it’ll be absolutely delicious with the grilled Duroc pork loin with creamy polenta, tomato sofrito and herb pesto.
Sazerac from Lapis
Modern Afghan bistro Lapis serves homestyle dishes made with local, seasonal ingredients and halal meats. Alongside a traditional dish of lamb shank with herbed tomato sauce and basmati rice, try their version of a Sazerac, with an absinthe rinse, maple, peychaud’s bitters, rye and cognac, for a taste of fall flavor with your meal.
Autumn-themed wines and classic cocktails from Reveler’s Hour
Italian restaurant Reveler’s Hour is celebrating fall with a broad collection of autumn-themed wines by the glass, chosen in partnership with award-winning sommelier Kelli White. Selections range from old school Napa reds to Austrian white wines, and sparkling wines from Greece and Italy. On the cocktail menu, you can’t go wrong with a classic Manhattan, or try the Scofflaw, made with bourbon, dry vermouth, lemon, grenadine and orange bitters.
Fall Punch from Jack Rose Dining Saloon
Although Jack Rose may be known for the massive whiskey collection (just take a look at the wall behind the bar), their cocktail menu is absolutely worth a look. New this season is the Fall Punch, a play on the classic rum punch, made with bourbon, Jamaican rum, black currant raspberry mead, Verjus Rouge, lemon and honey bitters.
Brown Shugga’ from Smoke and Barrel
Honestly, what could be more satisfying on a chilly fall day than a big plate of smoked barbecue? Known for their smoked pork and brisket (with vegetarian and vegan options available as well), Smoke and Barrel pairs their cuisine with craft beers and a list of fine whiskeys. On the craft beer list, check out the Cobbler, with notes of apricot and black currant by Black Flag Brewing Company. For an autumnal cocktail, try the Brown Shugga’ cocktail with Bulleit bourbon, housemade brown sugar syrup, Angostura bitters and Molasses drunken cherry.
